NYPD Comes Out Victorious at 3rd Annual Ballin’ 4 Peace Charity Softball Game

When the Ballin’ 4 Peace All-Stars took to the softball field against the NYPD on Sunday, July 28, at Randall’s Island Field, the game was more than an opportunity to spread a message of peace on the diamond and in the community.

The 3rd Annual Charity Softball game was the chance to establish some bragging rights. With the series tied at 1-1 heading into Sunday, it was the NYPD who came out victorious in the end. Tied at 6-6 heading into extra innings, some of New York's finest came up big in the clutch with a 12-8 win.

The free community event and full day of activities also included a Youth All Star Game, an H2O Music performance, and a Home Run Derby.

“Each year we hold this charity softball game is a nice reminder of the impact that all of us can have together,” said Ballin’ 4 Peace Founder, Haron Hargrave.

“I’d like to send a special thanks to everyone on the NYPD team, and especially Lieutenant Kai Bowen who has played a huge part in giving back to communities with this annual event.”

To help echo this point, Haron Hargrave also spent time speaking with hip-hop artist, G. Dep (Trevell Coleman) who recently spent 14 years in prison before being released from prison in April after New York Governor Kathy Hochul granted G. Dep clemency and his sentence was commuted, making him eligible for parole. Today, G. Dep is sharing his redemption story.

Ballin’ 4 Peace also wants to recognize fellow nonprofit organization, Achievement Lab Enrichment and CEO, Melissa Medina, who provided the DJ and bouncy house for the young families and kids in attendance.

Thank you to the NYPD, all of the players, vendors, partners, and fans who came out to support this impactful annual event.
