Non-Profit Organization Ballin 4 Peace Announces Annual Scholarship Program
This month we are excited to announce the launch of the Ballin 4 Peace Scholarship Program in hopes of impacting the life of a college bound High School Senior and alleviating some of their financial burdens as they further their education.
The Ballin 4 Peace Scholarship Program provides financial aid and one-time monetary support open to High School Senior students in Queens, New York and within the Tri-State area who are preparing for college and are in need of financial support.
“I couldn’t be happier to share the exciting news about the start of our Ballin 4 Peace Scholarship Program. I know what it's like to grow up in Queens and have experienced the realities of juggling finances both in Junior College and at a four-year University, and regardless which level of school you attend the need for support is always there,” said Ballin 4 Peace Founder, Haron Hargrave.
“Now thanks to the Ballin 4 Peace Scholarship Program, our community can really make a major difference by reinvesting in our youth and extending a helping hand to those students in need along the way.”
Designed to provide assistance to college bound High School Seniors from Queens, New York and within the Tri-State area, the Ballin 4 Peace Scholarship Program criteria includes students who possess a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, display a commitment to taking part in community outreach and service programs, and are in need of financial support. Along with receiving monetary funding, scholars are also given the valuable opportunity to intern with Ballin 4 Peace.
The Ballin 4 Peace Scholarship Program award winner will be announced at the annual Ballin 4 Peace Celebrity and Charity Basketball Game by Ballin 4 Peace, Founder, Haron Hargrave.
According to EducationDate.org, the average cost of college in the United States is $35,720 per student per year.
The cost has tripled in 20 years, with an annual growth rate of 6.8%. The average in-state student attending a public 4-year institution spends $25,615 for one academic year. At public 4-year institutions, students pay an average of $1,334 annually on books and supplies. At public 2-year institutions, students pay an average of $1,585 each year for books and supplies. At public 4-year institutions, students living on campus pay an average of $11,451 annually for room and board; off-campus boarders pay $10,781. At public 2-year institutions, students living on campus pay an average of $7,165 for their annual room and board; students living off campus pay $9,316.
Additional expenses at 4-year institutions range from $3,201 to $4,471, while 2-year institutions extra expenses average between $3,349 and $4,278.
“When we think about the price of college, people tend to focus on just the cost of tuition,” Hargrave explained.
“But that total price tag grows even bigger when you factor in additional expenses like transportation, housing, school supplies, and day-to-day expenses like food. That’s why we created this scholarship program at Ballin 4 Peace: to set kids up for success instead of hampering them even before they step foot on a college campus.”
