Back For More: '24 NYC Elite 32 Winter Classic Offers High School Players Chance To Shine
Better and bigger. It’s the two words best used to describe one of the most anticipated annual events powered by Ballin' 4 Peace, as the NYC Elite 32 Winter Classic returns on Friday, December 27 and Saturday, December 28 at Springfield High School in Queens, New York.
Featuring Varsity and Junior Varsity high school basketball teams from across New York City, the NYC Elite 32 Winter Classic continues to grow, on and off of the court. The current schedule and list of teams participating brings together some of the top young basketball talent with student-athletes from all parts of the tri-state area taking part in the Classic.
"Last year showed us that this is the exact community event needed during the holiday season. It brings people together for the greater good," said Ballin' 4 Peace Founder, Haron Hargrave.
The NYC Elite 32 Winter Classic brings together 32 teams with over 480 student-athletes gaining exposure and the opportunity to showcase their talents. With last year's event drawing more than 1,500 fans, this December's two-day event is already shaping up to be some must-see high school basketball. The best part: the Classic is rooted in Ballin'4 Peace's mission to spread peace through sports, with one student-athlete being awarded a scholarship at the conclusion of the two-day event.
"Before, kids and young families didn't really have an event like this to help bring people together. It's been incredible to watch the Classic become a way for these players and coaches to give back with a non-profit organization like Ballin' 4 Peace. It is special to see."
A 501c3 non-profit organization, Ballin' 4 Peace has impacted communities on and off the court since 2012. The organization was founded in response to a tragedy of gun violence and is committed to steering NYC youth away from violence and has partnered with the NYPD, NYC Parks & Rec. Department, The Junior Knicks, the NBA Players Association, Wilson Basketball, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and NYC Mayor Eric Adams, among other notables and organizations who have partnered with Ballin' 4 Peace. The NYC Elite 32 Winter Classic is a testament to the commitment of Ballin' 4 Peace to continue giving back and making a positive impact in sports and the community.
